Here we are again at the end of another busy term in which we’ve had some notable achievements.
For the first time in Larkmead School history, we’ve taken a full Year Group on a residential when our Year 7’s enjoyed a stay in Osmington Bay, Weymouth. They were there over the weekend of 11-12th May and had a wonderful time.
In sport, our Year 8 boys football team got to the final of the Vale Cap where they narrowly missed out on winning the championship, losing 2-3 to Wallingford. The boys played brilliantly and we could not have been more proud of them for achieving a place in the final. Well done!
Another group of boys took part in the ‘Fuzzy Logic’ dance group and entertained us all at Eastleigh with a spectacular show of their dancing skills. This was a great achievement for them and everyone who attended had a fun night.
On 19th April, five local schools attended the sixth Annual Multi Disability Sports Festival which is held every year at Larkmead. This was a fantastic event, enjoyed by everyone involved and I have to thank Mrs Hopgood and her dedicated team who have worked very hard to make the day so special.
Finally, our ‘Designer of the School Flag’ competition generated a lot of interest. We were extremely pleased that students responded to the challenge and produced some excellent work. Following voting by students, staff, parents and governors, the winner was Designer No. 1 Kirsty Brown. Well done to Kirsty and to all of our students who submitted an entry.
Aside from all of these great achievements, upper school students and their teachers have been working hard preparing for the GCSE and A level examinations, some of which have started taking place already.
We wish everyone taking exams this summer the very best of fortune.
